Review | Lush Sympathy For The Skin

I just wanted to write this quick review. Nothing special, but I like this product so much that I thought it really deserves to be reviewed and shared with you guys. :) I went to Lush a couple of weeks ago and even though I have more than enough body lotion to last me through the next 10 years ;) I decided I needed another one.

Usually (there are exceptions) I like body lotions that don't really have a scent or if they do just a subtle one. So I was smelling my way through Lush's body care assortment and a lot of them were way too scented for my taste. However I did find two that I liked and in the end got the Sympathy for the Skin one.

According to Lush Sympathy for the Skin is the yummiest, skin softening body cream in existence. Hmm, I don't know about that BUT it is very yummy. The two main ingredients of this lotion are bananas and vanilla. Apparently there are fresh mashed bananas in the lotion. WHAT?! Bananas?! THERE IS NO WHY I WILL LIKE THIS! That's what I wanted to tell the Lush lady when she showed me the lotion and wanted me to smell it. Well, surprise surprise, you can't really smell the bananas. You might be able to pick it up, but you mostly just smell vanilla and the sandalwood that's in there. All in all I think that the lotion smells kind of beachy, like a nice sunscreen or something. I really like it.

The consistency  of the lotion is really nice, it's very efficient and another big plus is that even though the lotion is quite rich, it gets absorbed by the skin really quickly. Most importantly my skin feels amazing since I started using it, it's so hydrated and just looks ??... healthier I guess. I don't know how to describe it.

Anyways, I really love it and if you are looking for a new body lotion (or you just like to hoard them ;) ... like I do ) then you should try this one. I am actually almost done with it, which is rare because usually lotions bore me after a while and then I use/buy a different one. Haven't felt that urge with this one yet.

What's your favorite lotion at Lush/ or outside of Lush? I think before I repurchase this one I might like to try a different one. Can't wait to hear.

Bobbi Brown | Haul

Dark circles under my eyes get me extremely frustrated. I can sleep as much as I want, they just never go away and no concealer really wants to work. The reason these dark circles always show is just that I have very fair skin and in the eye area my skin is almost "translucent" ;) so everything shines through. This might sound worse than it actually is, but I am sure you get the point. :)

I have watched sooo many tutorials on Youtube on how to cover up dark circles and I have used sooo many different concealers but I never got a result which was as good as I wanted it to be. Recently I watched some older Essiebutton videos and she was using the Bobbi Brown corrector. She was saying how great it was for her fair skin so I found a silver lining hoping that this would be the product to end my dark circle misery.

Today I finally went to the Bobbi Brown counter and got the corrector as well as the concealer kit which is good to use with it and in the end I also got a new foundation because I actually needed a new one.

I can't wait to see how this is going to work. A review will be up soon, but in the meantime I would like to hear what you guys have to say about these products. Have you tried them? What do you think of them?  I am looking forward to hearing from you guys.

Kiehl's Pineapple Papaya Facial Scrub | Review

Last week I went to the city to specifically check out the Kiehl's counter in one of the department stores because I had heard great things about their products. The Kiehl's guy was really nice and told me all about the company, how it started and A LOT more than that, it was fun though.

I was a bit overwhelmed and didn't really know if I wanted to buy something/ what I wanted to buy, because if I am being honest with myself I have more than enough of almost everything. I then remembered though that I needed a new facial scrub because mine was almost empty. The guy showed me three different ones and I ended up buying the Pineapple Papaya one.

I know that Kiehl's products are perfume free, which is why this product smells nothing like Pineapple or Papaya, but for some reason I can't get this into my head. Every time I have applied this product during the past week I was always a bit "surprised" that this doesn't even have a hint of a fruity scent. It just smells like pharmacy in my opinion, but I mean in the end the smell is not important.

After this week I have to say though that I am really not a big fan of this product. It's alright but definitely not worth its' price. In my opinion it doesn't have enough scrub grains in it at all. The three little
orange dots you can see in the picture are the scrub grains, there are a few more white ones but really not a lot. When I apply this to my face most of my face does not have any scrub grains and thus I can't exfoliate my face as I would like to.

About twice a week I get the urge to "deep-clean" my face. That's when I use a scrub. This one really isn't of much help though. To me it's more like a face wash, that's how little it peels. I much rather use the Neutrogena Daily Face Scrub. It has much more scrub grains and it still is very gentle to the skin because the grains are very fine and soft.

This Kiehl's one does leave the skin feeling nice, but not peeled and fresh and clean like a different facial scrub would. I really regret buying this, but I'll just use it as face wash or something.

The man at the Kiehl's counter gave me a lot of samples which I really enjoy. Especially one of the moisturizers, a toner and the BB cream they have. So I should have saved my money and gotten one of the those, but like the Germans say:
Later you're always smarter. ;)

Have you tried this scrub? Am I just using it wrong or something? What are your favorite Kiehl products? I want to hear all about it.

First Glossybox | Unboxing

About 3 weeks ago I decided that I really wanted to have a beauty subscription box and looked at all the options that are available in Germany. I watched a bunch of Youtube videos to figure out what the best one would be and in the end went with Glossybox.  Right after I ordered I read all these stories of people saying how bad the Glossybox has been for the last several boxes, so I had mixed feelings this morning when it FINALLY arrived. :) It felt really heavy though so that was a good sign I thought.

I have to say I am very happy with this one. It was all original products sizes except one and even that was a decent sized sample. The value of the box was really good as well. But let me tell you what was actually in there:

Neutrogena- Bodybalm with Nordic Berry
This was the first thing that caught my eye, obviously because it was the biggest one. I have heard of Neutrogena's Nordic Berry line but then again I don't even know what Nordic Berries are supposed to be. Anyone? Nordic Berries? Well I goggled those mystery berries and they are amber-colored berries, similar to raspberries or blackberries. They are also called cloudberries and they actually do look like little orange clouds, you should check them out. ;)   Anyways they contain very high levels of Vitamin C, so I guess that's good for your skin?! Well that's what Neutrogena says and they even tell me that "the hydration level of my skin is going to experience a threefold increase". Well that just sounds to good to be true, but we'll see right? I'll let you know about my hydration levels. ;)

BIGSEXYHAIR- Big Volume Conditioner
This conditioner I am very excited to try. I have heard a lot of great things about the BIGSEXYHAIR products and since I seem to have volume-resistant hair maybe this will be my new miracle product. I sure hope so. I have really, really fine hair and I have tried a whole lot of things but nothing works. If you guys know any wonder-weapons for flat, fine hair please tell me!!!

Jelly Pong Pong Cosmetics- Lip Blush
First when I saw this I got excited, but then I thought that it probably won't be as good as my chubby sticks. I wanted to try it straight away and I was a bit shocked. This product glides on super easily and is so pigmented and opaque it's crazy. The one I got is bright red and I felt like a clown, but I guess that's just me because I never really use super bright lipsticks or anything. It's a stain as well, it's really hard to get off. I was very surprised about how this felt on my lips. It doesn't feel like anything is there at all and it doesn't seem to be drying either. So I guess this might be a really nice product but I am not sure I will like it that much, just because of the color. I'll try it again, but for 15€ it's quite expensive and I would probably never buy it.

Sans Soucis- Eye Shadow 240 Navy Blue
This seems to be a very nice eye shadow. I really like the color, it's a nice dark blue which is definitely useable. I don't wear blue too often but sometimes. The shadow is super soft and not chalky or anything so I'm excite to try this.

Eucerin- Even Brighter Day Cream SPF30
It's always good to have SPF day cream I guess. I can definitely use one now that summer is supposed to come. Summer is taking it's time but at least I am prepared now. ;) We don't want to get all burned and wrinkly. Isn't that right?

That was the May Glossybox.  I am not disappointed at all, I am actually quite happy with it. Plus there was this cute Glossybox Notebook in there for all "my glossy notes". So sassy. ;)

Have you tried any of the products that were in there? What do you think of them? If you would like to read more in depth reviews of any of the products let me know.

Review | Lush Mask of Magnaminty

I just recently discovered Lush for myself. For me Lush has always been "that soap store". I knew they had a lot of soaps and bath bombs but was unaware of the miracle products hidden there. ;)

So about a week ago I went to Lush and bought some stuff. A body lotion, a foot mask and a face mask. I was super excited to try everything, especially the face mask. I got the Mask of Magnaminty, basically for one reason: I love mint! I thought it would be great to but a load of mint paste onto my face plus the mask smelled amazing. Well minty.

I put the mask on as soon as I got home and what can I say? It was (minty) haven. The mask was cooling when I put it on my face and gave the skin this fresh sensation which I can't really describe. It felt like the mask was really cleaning out every single pore, it was so nice that I left it on for way longer than I was supposed to. Then I washed it off and peeled my face a bit with the almond pieces which are in the mask. My skin was so soft and clean, I was amazed. I was always happy with the results of regular drugstore masks, but I have to say this feeling was a lot better.

My skin didn't feel dehydrated, like it did with regular masks. I always had the urge to put on moisturizer straight after I washed masks off. With this mask I felt like my skin had everything it needed and I couldn't stop touching my face because it felt so great.

Next I want to try one of the fresh masks they have. However I do highly recommend the Mask of Magnaminty.

What are your experiences with Lush masks? Which one is your favorite? Can't wait to hear your recommendations.

Review | Nivea In-Shower Body Lotion

As a Nivea Ambassador I was sent Nivea's newest product- the Nivea "In-Shower Body Lotion". The little brochure that came with the product got me really interested since it claimed that you apply this in the shower, wash it off, get out of the shower and dry yourself as usual with your towel and then you don't need to apply lotion anymore and can get dressed straight away. It basically is an alternative to regular body lotion.

I try to apply lotion once a day and most of the time manage to do so, but sometimes I get lazy -or I just don't want to feel greasy -or I just don't have time. So I was excited to see if it actually worked, because it would be a great alternative for when I am in a hurry or for the summer when it's hot and I don't feel like putting on lotion.

So I have tested this product over the past week and I have to say I am surprised. I was quite skeptical, but I really like the In- Shower Body Lotion. My skin does feel hydrated and soft when I get out of the shower and it does feel like lotion was applied. There are two different kinds of this lotion, one for normal skin, one for dry skin. The one I got was for dry skin, which was good because I usually have dry skin. It's not overly hydrating though, it definitely wouldn't be enough for the winter but for the summer this will be great.

Overall I really like the product and would recommend it -I am not saying that because Nivea gave it to me for free. However there is one point that could be improved, the packaging. The bottle gets really slippery during the process of applying the lotion in the shower and has slipped out of my hands several times. A pump bottle would be much better.

Have you guys tried this product already? What do you think? I am looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

Worth the hype: Clinique Chubby Sticks

I might be a bit late with this. I think about every blog I read has mentioned the Clinique Chubby Sticks and how great they are.

It took me a while to get convinced to go out and get one. I am not the biggest fan of wearing lipstick. I don't like the fact that it needs to be reapplied on a regular basis and I also find it hard to find colors that really suit my fair skin. I usually forget to refresh my lipstick and most lipsticks dry out my lips. When it comes to color I like lipsticks which are basically like my natural lip color but a bit more extreme.

With that being said, it has always been hard for me to find lipsticks I really like and usually I use them for a couple of days and then I abandon them in a drawer.

That's why I was intrigued by the idea of colored lip balms. I have heard a lot about the Revlon Balm Stains and would have liked to try those first, but unfortunately they don't have Revlon in Germany. (WHYYYY???) So I went directly for the Chubby Sticks and was just hoping that I would like them, since they are quite expensive.

I got them in the colors Mega Melon (04) and Curvy Candy (14). Really pretty colors. I love the feeling of the balms on my lips, they are moisturizing, and last forever. Another big plus is that you don't need a mirror to put them on.

Some people think that the chubby sticks are not pigmented enough, but that is one of the main things I really like. The color is sheer but still very noticeable, at least on my lips.

Mega Melon is kind of a brownish red, but definitely more red than brown and it has a bit of golden glitter in it. Curvy Candy is a very nice natural pink. I really like both of them, but Curvy Candy is my favorite.

I am glad I invested the money. The Clinique Chubby Sticks are absolutely great and I am probably going to buy more.

What do you think about the chubby sticks and what are your favorite colors? Has anyone tried the "intense moisturizing" chubby sticks? Can't wait to hear form you guys.

Cheesecake Lemon Bars... yummy,yummy

Today I... was in the mood for baking. I didn't bake anything in quite a while even tough I love it. I always have a problem when it comes to the point where I need to decide what I want to bake. I have a couple of classics, however I also have a lot of stuff on Pinterest I want to try.

What was it going to be? What was it going to be? I decided to go the safe way. Cheesecake Lemon Bars. I got this recipe from Pinterest but have made it a couple of times already. I absolutely adore these Lemon Bars, they are super lemony, moist and they have a CHEESECAKE layer. How much better can it get? ;)

Anyways, I don't even want to say much more, absolutely amazing recipe. You should try it and I am sure you will like it. I mean, who doesn't like lemon bars and cheesecake? Trust me the combination is even better. Here is what you need.

For the crust:
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, cut into cubes
For the lemon layer:
  • 4 eggs
  • 1.5 cups white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest
  • 1/2 cup lemon juice
For the cheesecake layer:
  • 16 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 eggs

Alright first of all preheat your oven preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and then grease and flour a 9 by 13-inch baking dish.

Next whisk together 1.5 cups flour and the confectioners' sugar in a mixing bowl. Now put in the butter chunks, mix it up a bit until you get a crumbly texture and then knead it to combine everything.

In the next step you press the crumbs into the bottom and up the sides of the prepared baking dish to form the crust. Bake the whole thing in the preheated oven until it's golden brown, 15 to 18 minutes. Remove it from the oven, and set aside, but leave the oven on. You'll need it again (same temperature).

Now for the lemon layer you whisk together 4 eggs, 1.5 cups of sugar, 1 tablespoon of flour, the lemon zest, and lemon juice in a bowl and pour that mixture into the prepared crust. It doesn't matter if the lemon mixture goes over the edge of your crust, so don't worry, just pour it all on there.

Last step is the cheesecake layer. Mix the cream cheese and 1 cup sugar in a bowl, whisk in 2 eggs and then spread over the lemon mixture. You don't have to be very careful, it doesn't matter if the two layers get mixed up, they will separate during baking. Now put that in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.

That's it! :) It's so easy to make these, and they are sooo good. If you make them, let me know what you think. How do you like the Lemon Bar/ Cheesecake combo?

Lemon bars, anyone? ;)

Spoil me Sunday

It's Sunday. Great. I am not a big fan of Sundays because it means that the weekend is over and the next day is Monday, which is even worse than Sunday. To make this day a little bit more enjoyable I try to always make time for a little pampering session. Everything that I don't really find time for during the week I do on Sundays to get all niiiice and fresh for the week ;)

Today I... am going to show you what I do on my "Spoil me Sundays", I think everyone should have a spoil me Sunday every once in a while. We all deserve some pampering after a long week, right?

Where do I start? Oh.. nice, long shower. I like showering, a lot. It makes me feel like a new person, especially on Sundays. I do the usual stuff that I do in the shower but additionally I use a hair mask and a scrub. The scrub I have at the moment is heavenly. It was a bit pricy but definitely worth it. It's by Sabon and I got the "Tropic" kind. They have several different kinds of this scrub and they all smell so nice. I actually had difficulties deciding which one I was going to get, but I ended up getting this one cause it smells so summery.

All of the Sabon scrubs are made with natural oils and Dead Sea Salt and leave the skin so, so soft. I can't even describe it. The oils in the scrubs really moisturize the skin and the Dead Sea Salt removes all the dead skin cells. For me there is a major difference in how my skin feels after I used this scrub. Must be the best I have ever had.

During the winter time I have been using the Body Shop Shea Body Butter when I got out of the shower. I have extremely dry skin in the winter months so the combination of the oils of the scrub and this body butter was great to moisturize my skin. Now that it's finally getting a bit warmer I feel like the oils from the scrub will be enough. Still I want to tell you about the Shea Body Butter. It smells absolutely fantastic, kind of like warm nut cookies or something like that. It's hard to describe the smell, but next to this amazing smell it has a very nice texture and is just extremely rich and leaves the skin feeling so good. There is not much more I can say here, but I really recommend this to anyone who has kinda dry skin. This will solve the problems, at least it does for me.

Today I also used a face mask. I recently bought this Montagne Jeunesse  Tropical Peel Off mask. It's a nice peel of mask, left my skin nice and soft, and it smells like you are rubbing a fruit smoothy on your face. Very nice. I like that it actually comes in a container so you can take just the amount you want.

Another product that I have recently been using about once a week is the Clarins Huile Santal Face Treatment Oil. I got a sample of this at Sephore a month ago or so and I will definitely buy this once I am done with the sample. A few drops of this go a long way, which is why my sample is still quite full. This oil is supposed to sooth and comfort dry skin and prevents moisture loss. I have a bit of combination skin, which is why I mainly just use this on the dry parts of the face, but I like it a lot.

I also did my nails today. I got some new nail polishes last week, but since I was busy with exams I didn't actually try them yet. So I was quite excited. I am not very good at nail art and I don't like it when it's too fancy anyways but I love accent nails. I am a big fan of Leigh Ann from Leigh Ann Says and she made a whole video about how to do tri-accents. It's unbelievably easy and looks great and I have been doing this ever since I watched the video and they always turn out quite nice. I am also a big fan of the new mint-green nail polish that I got ;)

I am a bit obsessed with oral hygiene and white teeth. I whiten my teeth a lot, not only on Sundays, but I thought I'd throw this in here. At the moment I use the 5 Minute Speed Whitening Gel by Plus White. I got a little package were it came with the Whitening Gel, a Pre Whitening Rinse and a little whitening tray and I am very happy with this. I saw a lot of reviews about this product on Youtube, so I had to try it and I recommend it to anyone. It's super easy, quick and quite inexpensive, most importantly it actually works very well.

Well that was it for today. I hope you enjoyed this post. :) What products do you guys use on your "Spoil me Sundays"? Any products I need to try?

If you have any comments or questions just comment down below. I will definitely answer. I am looking forward to hearing from you guys.

XO Linda

Addicted: Carmex

Hi everyone :) I have been really busy with exams the last couple of days, BUT I am actually done now. No more exams. I really wanted to do another post and now I have the time for it.

Today I... want to talk to you about one of my all time favorites, Carmex Lip Balm. I have tried so many different brands of lip balms and some were alright, some were really bad, but I was never actually satisfied with any of them. A couple of winters ago my lips were super dry and I decided that I had to get a new lip balm. I went to a drugstore in Germany, saw Carmex and bought it because it was one of the only ones I hadn't tried yet.

What can I say (this going to sound dramatic) it was one of the best decisions ever. I love Carmex. Even when my lips are completely screwed up, I put some Carmex on, booom ;) they are all good. I love the feeling of it on my lip and I can't really describe it but it's somewhat cooling and soothing at the same time. It leaves the lips so soft and it gets even better when you use it after you use a lip scrub like the Lush Mint Julip which I talked about in my last post.

I would never go back to another lip balm, unless something proves to be even better. ;)  If you haven't found a lip balm yet that you really like, I highly suggest to try Carmex. Maybe it works for you too.

I saw the other day that Carmex also has body lotions. Unfortunately I haven't figured out yet where I can get those, because they don't have them neither in Germany nor in the Netherlands. Maybe I can order them online somewhere. If the lotion is nearly as good as the lip balm, I need it. ;)

Have you guys ever tried the Carmex body lotions? What is your favorite lip balm?

I am looking forward to hearing from you.

XO Linda

My current top 5

Today I... am going to talk about my current top 5 favorite products. I was going to do a post about my all time 5 favorite products, but while I was trying to come up with those I realized that that was a mission impossible. There are too many products I like and and they keep changing, thus "current top 5". ;) So let's get started.

Fine ONE ONE- Benefit Cosmetics
While there are many Benefit products that I like a lot, I have to say that this one must be my favorite of all the ones I have tried so far.

Benefit describes Fine One One as a "sheer brightening color for cheeks and lips". I personally have never used it on my lips before but I love it on my cheeks as a blush.

The way you apply it is as easy as pie, you take the stick with the highlighter color facing up and run it over your cheeks, blend it a bit with your finger and your good to go.

Next to the adorable packaging of the product I just like how easy it is and what a great result it gives me. I used to sometimes struggle a bit with where exactly on my face I need to put the blush. Now I don't need to think about that anymore because the highlighter color in contrast with the nice red and the coral color accentuates my cheek bones and gives more shape to my face. I really like this product and I highly recommend it.

Mint Julips Lip Scrub- Lush
I bought this Lush Lip Scrub about two months ago and it was my first ever Lush product. I often times find the scents of Lush products overwhelming, however this scrub I fell in love with in an instant.

You have to know that when it comes to mint I am a bit of a freak. I love, love, love the smell and taste of mint and if I see something that has to do with mint I usually buy it.

Now this scrub said it is a peppermint/chocolate scrub so I wasn't too sure if I would like it since I don't normally like beauty products that smell like chocolate. However the chocolate scent is so subtle that I really didn't mind and the smell just made me wanna buy the product. I tried it straight away when I came home from shopping and loved it. It leaves your lips so, so soft and it actually tastes fantastic. If you like After Eight you will love this ;)

Steamcream
I had never heard of Steamcream before, but when I was doing some shopping at Urban Outfitters after Christmas they had it on sale and I really liked the packaging so I ended up buying it.

When the order finally arrived at my house I read the little brochure that came with the cream and found out that Steamcream is an all natural, vegan cream which is handmade in the UK. You can use it for your face, body and hands and supposedly it is very moisturizing.

I can definitely confirm that. The cream is very rich but still absorbs very quickly and makes your skin feel super soft and moisturized. In the winter I also used the cream on my face, but I do feel like it might be a bit much now that it's getting warmer. Still I very much enjoy this cream and what I really like is that the tins come in sooo many different designs. The designs are all limited editions and keep on changing and sometimes they even work with famous designers to design new tins. You should check out their website.

essie- Status Symbol
There really isn't much to say about this nail polish. It was the first essie nail polish I bought and I can easily say it was worth it.

I have used around half the bottle until now and every time I am impressed by how long it lasts on my nails.

I know that essie has a whole lot of nice colors but the reason I like this one so much is that it is quite hard for me to find a pink nail polish which looks nice with my skin color. I have quite fair skin so a lot of pinks are too bright or so dark that you wouldn't really consider them pink anymore. This one goes great with my skin color and still is a pretty bright pink.

La vie est belle- Lancome
I have been in love with this perfume by Lancome. It am not going to try to describe this scent to you, my description wouldn't even be able to give you an idea of what it smells like. Just go out and smell for yourself.

I really like sweet perfumes, so if you are someone who does not like sweet perfumes you won't like it. If however you do like sweet perfumes I am sure you will love it.

Since I have this one I haven't touched the other perfumes I have and I think it will stay that way for a while. ;)

Well that's it. I hope you enjoyed this post about my current top 5 products. Have you tried any of them? What do you think?

Let me know if you have any comments or questions. I am excited to hear what you guys have to say.

Talk to you soon,

Lindaaaa :)

Dreaded first post... ;)

While I have actually made the blog a couple weeks ago I am only writing my first post now. I have been procrastinating it for a long time but now I finally got around to it. Lets hope I am not going to delete everything half way through again (that has definitely happened several times before, I just didn't know how to write this). ;)

Anyway, I am extremely excited to start and I am sure that I will have a lot of fun. So let's do this.

Today I... Just wanted to let you guys know who I am and why I decided to start this blog. Exciting, right? ;) My name is Linda, I am 22 years old and I am from Germany. I currently live in the Netherlands because I am going to university here. Next to Germany I have also lived in Ireland and in the US. I lived close to Seattle, WA for a while when I was younger and I really wanna go back there soon.

I have "a bit" of a beauty/ make up obsession and while I have tried several times to stop spending so much money on beauty products, I have given up this internal fight. I just love trying new products too much. So what better way is there to get in contact with other "beauty freaks", like myself, to share all of those "top-secret" beauty tips and products with. ;)

We will see what will actually happen, but the plan for now is to share what I like.

For now I hope you guys are having a wonderful weekend.

Talk to you soon,
Linda

P.S.: Yeayy, I actually finished my first post. ;)
